What is the “Therapy Cap”? Under the Balanced Budget Act (BBA) of 1997 Congress placed an annual cap on rehabilitation services under Medicare. The therapy cap amount for 2017 is $1,980 for outpatient physical therapist and speech-language pathology services combined.
