PT Month: Celebrating One of Our Own, Karleigh Crochet Sigur

Karleigh’s Story

In celebration of Physical Therapy month, we would like to acknowledge one of our many amazing physical therapist, Karleigh Crochet Sigur. She is our full time physical therapist at nursing facility Maison Teche in New Iberia. Karleigh received her bachelors of Science/Kinesiology major from LSU and her Doctorate of physical therapy from Texas Woman’s University School of physical therapy in Dallas. She has since moved back to her hometown of New Iberia where she lives with her husband, Ryan, and 6 month old son who frequents the nursing home on the weekends.

Although Karleigh started working for Therapy Center in 2013, she always knew she wanted to work in the medical field and more specifically a nursing home as she grew up in the skilled nursing facility setting. Her grandmother was the administrator of a local nursing home for over 30 years. She spent her childhood summers painting residents nails, calling out BINGO numbers and pushing residents around in their wheelchairs.

karleighFrom a young age, Karleigh was able to see and feel the difference she could make in others’ lives and now she is able to do that every day. She says, “The most rewarding part of my job is getting to see patients progress to levels that may have initially seemed unattainable/unachievable, witnessing personal victories (both large and small), and being a part of the journey as so many of our patients are able to return home to their loved ones.”

Working with Maison Teche Nursing Center

Our therapy team at Maison Teche Nursing Center is always coming up with new, innovative ways to keep their residents involved and active like outdoor activities, summer Olympic Games, and special projects for every holiday.

“Getting to work with creative, experienced, and diverse therapist is my favorite part of working for Therapy Center because it allows me to in turn continue growing as a therapist.” – Karleigh Crochet Sigur

Thank you Karleigh for your hard work. We are proud to have you as a part of our team and your residents at Maison Teche are lucky to have such committed, compassionate therapist working with them. Happy PT Month!
